Kelowna's Diverse Offerings

Lying in the heart of the Okanagan Valley, Kelowna is a natural choice for smaller meetings where accessibility, amenities and soft adventure are on the list. Kelowna International Airport is the tenth-busiest in Canada, and with daily nonstop flights from Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle, delegates can leave the East in the morning and be teeing up on a championship golf course by lunchtime. Kelowna’s unique landscapes, pine-covered mountains and desert-like valleys are unlike any other city in the province. You can expect powderperfect snow for winter skiing; water activities on the lake in summer; and hiking, ATV rambles and other action-oriented activities year round. Then there’s the wine — award-winning vineyards with spectacular views, innovative event spaces and special reserve wines unavailable anywhere else.

"Once a meeting planner sees what Kelowna has to offer, they are so impressed with our stunning location, easy accessibility and flexibility, that they not only book their conference, but return again and again," says Jennifer Horsnell, director of sales, Tourism Kelowna. "And because we have all the big-city amenities as well as such a vibrant countryside, customizing a conference programme to ‘savour the many flavors’ is a real specialty".

Wyeth Pharmaceuticals is a case in point. “Quite simply, Kelowna is a marvelous location," enthuses Lucie Landry, CCPE, meetings coordinator, Business Units, who readily lists the city’s many attributes. “It’s the direct flights, an airport that’s well located to downtown, the weather, the street side cafes, fine dining, the numerous vineyards, outdoors activities, golf and its people. There’s just way too much to do and see on one visit, so we keep coming back.
