Prince George's Small-Town Charm

As the regional centre for Northern British Columbia, Prince George epitomizes small-town hospitality and offers groups a unique distinction. From the taxi drivers to shopkeepers to hotel staff, your event becomes their focus, with a generosity of spirit that will have your delegates feeling like celebrities. Hotel services are excellent and the Prince George Civic Centre, in particular, provides a versatility that comprises pre-function and meeting space that’s in close proximity to the trade show area. It is also the largest conference/convention facility serving the region.

"Bio energy is the flavor of the day, which has seen our trade show quadrupled in size," says Cam McAlpine, co-ordinator for the BioEnergy Bi-annual Conference and Exhibition. "We attract a lot of international participation, so accessibility is very important, as are smaller business rooms for private meetings," notes McAlpine. "The Civic Centre has the space to accommodate our growth and format, and the catering is absolutely top of line, bar none," he continues. "What really stands out, though, is that the staff is so well integrated with the city, everyone is a personal resource on what to see and where to go."

Because Prince George is a gateway town to some of British Columbia’s most magnificent wilderness, many planners take full advantage of its location. It’s not unusual to have conference components that include dog sledding, cross-country skiing, fishing and exploring the city’s trails and riverside rambles. And with a soon-to-be-launched programme called "A Genuine Experience," Events Prince George will be offering more tools to help planners boost attendance by encouraging delegates to extend stays and even bring along the entire family.
